In December 2017, Cody Christopher drank excessively and made a deadly decision: to drive drunk. According to reports, Christopher drove his 10-year-old son and two of Christopher’s friends on the dirt Puma Paw Road north of Rifle. He didn’t get far before he ran off of the road and rolled his Ford Excursion. His two friends were killed in the deadly DUI crash, and his son was injured. Christopher’s blood alcohol content at the time of the accident was three times the legal limit.
This is the follow-up story of a Colorado man convicted in fatal drunk driving crash.
Christopher told investigators that he was driving the car. He was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of vehicular homicide. In June 2019, a Colorado court convicted Christopher of both counts of vehicular homicide, as well as vehicular assault, driving under the influence of alcohol, and reckless driving. He is scheduled to be sentenced on August 8th.
